Bachmann Model Trains
Bachmann Trains are the young freshman when it comes to the world of model trains. Compared to other popular known train making companies, such as Lionel Trains that have been around for over a century, Bachmann Trains are fairly new.The Bachmann family originally bought an expensive comb company in 1899 and developed many other products before venturing into making trains. Established in 1968, the company became known as the Bachmann Bros. and they started producing their own line of trains.
They had much success diving into this market and in 1981 a Hong Kong based company called Kader industries bought the company and kept the Bachmann name intact. Today the trains are produced in China under the title of Bachmann Industries.
Bachmann Trains have developed products that are one of the cheaper model trains and accessories on the market. I’m sure you have heard the saying “you get what you pay for,” well it doesn’t apply in this case. The quality of the product is still an impressive attribute for Bachmann even though it is cheaper than many of their competitors.
Bachmann Trains have become well known in the industry and the trains are sold worldwide. The trains are great for newbies as it is a low start up cost, provides a great quality and it is easy to assemble the trains and accessories. Bachmann is not only for newcomers though as they also still provide great products for even the veteran enthusiast to add to his or her collection.
There are different scales that determine the size of the model trains compared to the life-size train that it is modeled after. Bachmann has numerous products within each scale including locomotives, engine trains, rolling stock trains, train sets, train tracks, miniature figures, building kits and much, much more!
The HO scale is the most popular model train scale worldwide. The HO Scale is manufactured at the ratio of about 1:87, which is modeled at 3.5mm to one real foot. The N Scale is approximately at the ratio of 1:148. This is a popular scale size train for hobbyists as it allows scene layouts that take up less room.
The O Scale is a scale that is more popular for the detail of the train as opposed to the operation of the train itself. The ratio of the O scale is approximately 1:48. The On30 Scale is modeled at the same ratio as the O Scale but is produced for a narrower railway. This Scale is regarded as the fastest growing scale/track gauge combination in the industry.
Bachmann’s Large Scale is actually classified as the g scale. These products allow the consumer to have a larger train and are available for people that have the room to expand to this scale. They even give the ability to have the train outdoor which is a great feature.
Bachmann also provides great products and accessories beyond the trains themselves. They include landscapes or “scenescapes” as Bachmann calls them. They have track cleaning equipment such as the “track-cleaning car” which is an actual train car that acts as a cleaning agent while riding on the track. They have power packs for every scale of train; smoke fluid, train lubrication and much more.
As you see above there is a huge variety of quality products that Bachmann Trains offers. If you have been a train hobbyist for years and are trying to add to your collection, looking to start a model train hobby with your kids or if you are a big kid at heart look no further. Bachmann will take you on an adventure with the great products they offer. All aboard!!!
